Hericicum Erinaceus (Bull. ex Fr.) Pers. is a well-known mushroom
for both food and medication. The hymenium and the fermented fungal hypha are used as
drug. With mild nature and sweat taste, it helps digestion and the viscera function. It
has good efficacy in the treatment of chronic gastritis, duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer and
various other digestive diseases, and promotes the immunity. Hence the name “ hedgehog
hydnum of the mountain food and swallow nest of the sea food”.
2.Effects of polysaccharide
Active ingredients in hedgehog hydnum are: hedgehog hydnum
polysaccharide, amino acids.
The hedgehog hydnum polysaccharide extracted from the hymenium
has significant inhibition on mouse 180 sarcoma cells and Alice ascites carcinoma cells.
The interferons produced after taking the drug can enhance the anti-cancer effect. The
amino acids contained in them provide necessary raw materials for ulcer healing,
regeneration of gastric mucosal epithelium, and nourish and tonify the body.
